The corset is the big hit of the autumn street style

Copenhagen Fashion Week has confirmed that the bustier is the top we need to add to our wardrobe.

The appearances of Bella Hadid, Lizzo and the street style of Copenhagen, have something in common, the corset top that seems to become part of the wardrobe again, of course different from the past. The corset started as a tight, sleeveless garment and evolved into underwear reinforced with straps that squeezed the sides resulting in a sculpted body and a slimmer torso or waist.

It was a controversial piece as it was linked to the oppression of women or even stories of torture, fashion historians Valerie Steele and Colleen Gau argue that the corset did not cause serious health problems, but could cause fainting and diminished vitality due to tightening of the corset. In the course of history, the corset began to be made of elastic fabrics.

In the 1970s Vivienne Westwood incorporated the corset into her punk aesthetic, but in this case instead of restricting women, they enhanced their capacity. Jean-Paul Gaultier and Thierry Mugler followed in the '80s, incorporating them into their creations, while Madonna wore the famous pink satin corset of the first on the Blonde Ambition tour in 1991, giving it new momentum. 2021 the corset follows its classic shape, but it is a piece of soft cotton fabric, even knitted, that emphasizes the curves without making any body suffocate.

We see it combined even with very casual pieces such as jeans, it becomes a tool for autumn layering as it is worn over shirts. The corset top can be found even through suits, so it can be the feminine detail of an office look.
